KONTEKST Film Festival 2026: ENTANGLEMENTS
25th July 2026 · 1:00pm - 26th July 2026 · 6:00pm
Doors open: 12:30pm
Conway Hall

KONTEKST‘s third film festival comes to Conway Hall this summer, presenting work by emerging practitioners across ethnographic film, experimental moving image, installation, and live performance. Organised by KONTEKST Collective, the festival brings together artists, filmmakers, and researchers working at the intersection of creative practice and social inquiry.
ENTANGLEMENTS explores multispecies encounters and relationships: the messy, intimate, political, and often overlooked connections between humans and the more-than-human world. From microbial ecologies to interspecies care – from environmental collapse to queer kinship with plants and animals – the programme asks how we live alongside and are shaped by other forms of life. How can film and art make these relationships visible, felt, and ethically navigable in a time of ecological crisis?
This festival is for anyone curious about how film can grapple with ecological responsibility and multispecies futures: artists, researchers, activists, or anyone interested in work that helps you think and feel differently about the world.

ABOUT KONTEKST Collective
KONTEKST is an open horizontal collective of anthropologists, filmmakers, and artists committed to accessible, community-focused programming. We platform emerging voices who may not find space within traditional festival circuits, and create accessible events for diverse audiences. ENTANGLEMENTS is curated collaboratively, with decisions made collectively by the group.
KONTEKST runs a digital platform, organises year-round screenings and workshops, and produces collaborative festivals bridging artistic practice, social research, and public engagement. ENTANGLEMENTS continues this work by exploring what it means to be entangled and how experimental moving image can help us navigate these relationships with care.
