5x15:
Mary Trump on the Making of Donald Trump
19th October 2026 · 7:00pm - 8:20pm
Doors open: 6:30pm
In person

Few people have been analysed, discussed and debated as relentlessly as Donald Trump. But few know the world that shaped him as intimately as Mary Trump.
A clinical psychologist and Donald Trump’s niece, Mary knew him long before the presidency. In her bestselling Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, she drew on her personal experience and psychological training to offer an extraordinary account of the Trump family and the forces she believes shaped Donald Trump.
On 19 October, just weeks before the US midterm elections, Mary Trump comes to the 5×15 stage in conversation with Guardian political sketch writer John Crace. Together they will explore the making of Donald Trump, examining the family dynamics that shaped him, his relationship with power, loyalty and opposition, and what his past can tell us about the way he governs today.
As Trump tests the limits of presidential power at home and recasts America’s relationship with its traditional allies abroad, understanding what drives him has never mattered more.
5×15. Where great stories are told live.
