 A Night with James Baldwin

This ground-breaking event makes an incredible earth shattering promise – You will never be the same again!  The film will be introduced by Dr Michelle Asantewa PhD, followed by a screening of the acclaimed Oscar nominated James Baldwin documentary “I Am Not Your Negro” from renowned Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck.  In a time of polarisation, division and hate, James Baldwin’s words are hauntingly brought to life, reminding us of a by-gone era that still very much resonates with current times and the darkening clouds of hate that encircle human society; a hate that gave birth to the much-hated illusory figure that was ‘The Nigger’.

James Baldwin asks: Why was it important to create a ‘Nigger’ in the first place?

The film is followed by a post screening discussion and Q&A.

Dr Asantewa is joint course Leader with Tony Warner of Black History Walks on The Amazing James Baldwin Course, which was inspired by the film.  Course details here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-amazing-james-baldwin-course-septemberoctober-tickets-35912503264
