a school of thought: a way with words

6-week project, Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm, 31 Jan – 7 March

Take part in a six-week project, critically exploring the power of language and the art of persuasive communication. In these Wednesday evening sessions you will be adopting a think-share-explore approach as you discuss your ideas and research findings, and decide on the content, format and design of an event/exhibition in Conway Hall Library.

Over the six weeks of the project, you will gain confidence in and develop the following skills: dealing with a project brief, creative thinking strategies, devising action plans and time management, collaboration and intercultural communication, talking about and developing ideas, giving feedback and support, critically engaging with academic discourse, and using rhetoric to get your ideas across.

The project will be facilitated by Adam, who as well as providing input related to the various support and workshops he offers at University of the Arts London, will offer support and suggestions in connection with idea development and research through encouraging collaboration, creative thinking and communication. Adam will also provide support in navigating an art project, using his experience of working on and running art projects, and assisting in organising/setting up events and exhibitions.

Details of the structure and content for the sessions will be discussed and agreed on in the first meeting.

All workshops will run from 6.30 – 8.30pm and will take place in Conway Hall’s atmospheric library.

Project facilitator

Adam Ramejkis works as an Academic Support Tutor and as an Associate Lecturer in Creative Thinking and Communication at University of the Arts London, where he supports students with their understanding of academic communication and trains staff in effective communication and cultural awareness. He advocates a think-share-explore approach to collaboration, as this enables us to reflect on and develop our own, and each other’s, thinking.

We are committed to promoting inclusive practice at Conway Hall. Due to the constraints of our building, the Library is not currently accessible to wheelchair users or those with limited mobility but we are happy to discuss with you how we can make the contents and materials accessible to you. We carefully monitor which events are held in the Library, and will use your comments to enable us to develop ways to ensure that everyone should be able to attend events in the future.
