 Amorphous by Melissa Budasz

An exhibition of work by Melissa Budasz

2 – 27 Feb 2017

Opening event/private view 6-9pm, Fri 3 Feb.

Melissa Budasz studied fine art painting at Camberwell and Norwich Art School (1997) and has a studio at Brookmill Studios Deptford, London.  Her practise of photography, drawing and painting connects to symbolic and discursive systems such as myth, psychoanalysis and philosophy referencing nature, the female body and literature.

Amorphous is an existential body of work that focuses on the transformation of life form, creating a sense of visual intrigue and material presence.  The physicality and expansion of scale takes on a metamorphic quality that occupies an ambiguous space – fragile, transient, ethereal.  The polarities between consciousness and unconsciousness; memory and ambiguity; self and other; death and rebirth (although the dialogue has a personal narrative) has universal significance.

Melissa Budasz has curated and exhibited in several large scale projects, events and exhibitions.  She is the founder and editor of ArtVerve, a journal on women’s art and for several years was the leader of South London Women Artists (SLWA).  She is an RSA fellow and has paintings in private collections in the UK and USA.
