Sunday Concerts: Bartholomew LaFollette & Friends

Featuring an all-star lineup led by our 2026 Artist-in-Residence Bartholomew LaFollette, this special programme journeys through profound contrasts of expression. We begin with Brahms’s youthful Scherzo in C minor, a stormy, passionate movement from the collaborative FAE Sonata, brimming with fire and intensity. Brahms’s late Clarinet Trio in A minor, Op.114 follows — an intimate work coloured by autumnal warmth and tenderness, revealing his deep affection for the clarinet’s voice. After the interval comes Messiaen’s monumental Quartet for the End of Time, conceived in a prisoner-of-war camp in 1941. With its visionary fusion of faith, rhythm, and colour, this masterpiece invites us into a timeless world of contemplation and transcendence.
