 BSA Masterclass: Science Communication Primer

New to science communication and unsure where to start? This event is intended to give those new to science communication and engagement an overview of this varied sector. It is suitable for researchers with an interest in scicomm, those in the early stages of sci comm career, and any volunteers looking to expand their skills. The sessions will be really interactive, and a great way to meet others who are new to the sector.

The interactive sessions will guide delegates through thinking about their audience, choosing the right medium for science communication, effective storytelling and evaluating their work. During the day, the programme will include guidance for delegates on the next steps for their career development  with sessions led by key practitioners and academics in science communication.

Speakers confirmed so far include science writer Mun-Keat Looi (Wellcome Trust) and research and evaluation specialist Marie Hobson (Heritage Lottery Fund), with more to be announced soon. The workshop sessions will be followed by a keynote address from physicist and broadcaster Helen Czerski (UCL/BBC).
