Compassion – with Professor Paul Gilbert
18th April 2017 · 7:00pm - 8:30pm
In person | Virtual event
Join us for an inspiring evening to explore the science of compassion and how we can put this into practice to create happier lives – for ourselves and others around us.
Professor Paul Gilbert will share the latest research about compassion and how we can use this to live more wisely. He will look at how and why we show compassion to others, but also the importance of being open to receiving compassion and being compassionate towards ourselves too.
“Compassion is one of the most important declarations of strength and courage known to humanity. It is difficult and powerful, infectious and influential. It is a universally recognised motivation with the ability to change the world” ~ Professor Paul Gilbert.
Professor Paul Gilbert OBE is a clinical psychologist, author and founder of the Compassionate Mind Foundation. He has developed a range of proven therapeutic interventions, including Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
Prof. Gilbert is author of The Compassionate Mind, Mindful Compassion and Overcoming Depression. He is also a Professor at the University of Derby, a fellow of the British Psychological Society and received an OBE for his contribution in mental healthcare.
“The increasing drive to find a competitive edge may create efficiencies but they are cold, heartless and unpleasant to live with. Gilbert explains why our capacity for compassion is the antidote” ~ Oliver James
Doors will open at 18:30 and the event will start at 19:00
