Food of the Future: how to end hunger, fight climate change, limit obesity and eat deliciously

To combat the climate crisis, Western diets have to change. Does this mean sacrifice – or ingenious, delicious and healthy new ways of feeding the world? We’re bringing together the scientists and innovators saving our planet by inventing the food of the future.

The science is unequivocal. Globalised food production and the meat and dairy heavy diets we enjoy in the West are killing us – and killing our planet. Obesity is bankrupting the NHS, and will mean this generation of children are likely to live shorter lives than their parents. And the continual expansion of farmland for animals is devastating our forests, generating billions of tons of CO2 each year – with tens of millions more greenhouse gases released from the burning of fossil fuels to make fertilisers for feedstocks.

Yet more than 800 million people go hungry today. The climate shocks that western diets help cause are making the situation worse – with global malnourishment increasing in the last five years. How can we feed the world without destroying it – and support the additional 2 billion people the UN predicts will join us by 2050?

At How To Academy, we believe that our global crisis is also a global opportunity for change. We’ve gathered the world’s leading experts to reveal their plans for the future of food. From hydroponics to insect protein, post-industrial farming to the political battle we need to fight to transition to sustainable food systems, we’ll transport you to the world of 2029 and beyond – and prove that a world of zero hunger and zero emissions is possible.

What can you do to end hunger, fight climate change and eat more wisely and well? Join us and find out.
