How Should the West Handle North Korea?

North Korea is probably the most isolated country on the planet. So what’s it really like there? Leader Kim Jong Un has recently successfully tested nuclear weapons and made clear he is very willing to use them if the United States does not back away from his interests on the Korean peninsular. At the same time, new US President Trump has not sounded terribly diplomatic. So how should the West handle North Korea?

Former FT and BBC journalist Simon Buckby spent time in North Korea last year and will bring on-the-ground reportage of what is happening there, as well as insights on how the standoff between North Korea and the US could play out.

Simon Buckby is a former journalist for the Financial Times and political reporter for the BBC. Simon established the Champollion Communications Consultancy in 2005, helping organisations to project their arguments to the media and to Government. He has visited almost 150 countries, always probing beneath the surface, and believes North Korea to be the weirdest but most fascinating of them all.
