How to write a novel (and get published)
24th September 2016 · 10:00am - 5:00pm
In person | Virtual event
Want to know some tips for writing that novel you’ve always dreamt of? Or maybe you’ve written one and now you need to know what’s next. Are you having trouble breaking into publishing, or are you not sure where to start? Are you ready to get serious?
Claire McGowan is the acclaimed author of seven novels, in both crime fiction and women’s fiction. She’s the Senior Lecturer in Crime Writing at City University London, and has also taught for many other organisations including Arvon and Guardian Masterclasses.
In this one-day class, Claire will teach you the essential elements of writing a novel that’s sellable in today’s market, looking at genre, concept, story, characterisation, and also how to overcome the blocks and difficulties that stop us writing. She’ll also explain how to break into the industry, and what actions you should be taking to advance your career and become a published novelist.
To make this event as accessible as possible, I will also be offering up to two FREE places for those on a low income or who would be unable to come otherwise. Please contact me via my website to enquire.
‘Claire’s feedback has proved invaluable. For all writers seeking an agent or publication, Claire’s advice is second to none’ – Charlie P, writer
