Conway Hall Ethical Society presents:
Sunday Concerts:
I Musicanti
30th October 2022 · 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Doors open: 6:00pm
In person
The artists who make up I Musicanti are all distinguished performers. They play in the best orchestras and as soloists and chamber musicians; they appear in concert halls internationally and on recordings; they are based in Britain but come from around the world. What unites them is their ceaseless musical curiosity, a palpable sense of adventure and an unswerving commitment to excellence.
Many of you will be familiar with Schubert’s ever-popular ‘Trout’ Quintet, but perhaps not so with Vaughan Williams and John McCabe’s equally wonderful pieces for the same ensemble.
Tamás András (violin)
Robert Smissen (viola)
Richard Harwood (cello)
Leon Bosch (double bass)
Katya Apekisheva (piano)
Programme:
Vaughan Williams | Quintet in C minor
John McCabe | ‘Sam Variations’ for violin, viola, cello, double bass & piano
Schubert | Quintet in A ‘Trout’ D.667
This performance of ‘Sam Variations’ (1989) has been supported by the Schubert Ensemble Trust Commission Grant Scheme.
About the Sunday Concerts
Founded in the 1880s, our chamber music concert series is the longest-running of its kind in Europe. Conway Hall was purpose-built in 1929 to host concerts and lectures, and they have continued here until the present day. The ethos of “affordable classical music for all” still remains.
Further Info
The bar will be open before the concert and during the interval, in our foyer.
