 Iyad Sughayer Piano Recital

Palmusic UK celebrates Iyad Sughayer Trinity Laban Gold Medal Award 2018

This concert celebrates Iyad’s Gold Medal Award, the prestigious award presented by the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Following a sell-out showcase of recitals at world-class cultural hub Kings Place, Iyad Sughayer was selected as this year’s competition winner.

The Jordanian-Palestinian pianist gave stunning performances of the serene ‘Les Cloches de Genève’ from Liszt’s Années de Pélerinage, and the vivacious first movement from Khachaturian’s Piano Sonata.

“Iyad’s achievement in winning tonight’s competition is exceptional amongst such a talented group of young musicians”.  Claire Mera-Nelson Trinity Laban’s Director of Music

More recently, Iyad has also collaborated with Palmusic UK and our beneficiaries Omar and Tibah Saad, and Lourdina Baboun in two tours held in February and June, in support of our UK Scholarship Fund.

There will be a 10-minute interval before an illuminating Q&A session with the artist and the Keyboard Trust. You are welcome to get to know the pianist more closely and ask him questions.

Gold Tickets holders are welcome at the Brockway Room to join us at 9.15 pm for a reception with the artist.

Many thanks to Hani and Ibtissam Abul Jubein, Usama and Abir Tuqan, and the Keyboard Trust who have generously sponsored the concert.

Palmusic UK was founded as a UK charity in 2013 to support the music education of young Palestinians and foster creative collaboration and exchange between Palestine and the UK. Through our programmes and activities in Palestine and the United Kingdom, we bring music to all Palestinians and create opportunities for them to grow and develop despite all the hardships they live under.  We bring joy and inspiration to their lives and encourage them to learn new skills and nurture their talent. Our concerts and events in the UK showcase Palestinian music and talent, enriching the cultural scene of both countries and promoting mutual understanding and cooperation. We believe that music can transform the lives of young people and build bridges between people and nations.
