For their second recital of 2023, the London Piano Quartet – a collaboration between members of the Piatti Quartet and pianist, Simon Callaghan – offer a programme showcasing this special combination of instruments, and spanning almost a century. Beethoven begins their concert, before Fauré’s first quartet, considered by many as one of his masterpieces. Brahms’ second quartet, premiered in 1861 with Clara Schumann at the piano, closes the evening.
The London Piano Quartet will return later in 2023 to perform the final Brahms piano quartet, alongside works by Walton and Mendelssohn.
