Mindfulness for Life – Mark Williams

Join Action for Happiness for an inspiring and mindful evening with Professor Mark Williams as he explores how mindfulness has the potential to transform our lives and help create a happier a more caring society.

Mark will introduce the concept of mindfulness, including some practical examples, and show how it can help us cope better with problems and discover a greater sense of choice in how we lead our lives.

He will also share his perspective on the wider mindfulness movement and its increasing uptake in schools, communities, boardrooms and beyond…

Mark Williams is Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Oxford University. He and colleagues developed the widely used and NICE-recommended 8-week Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) course for prevention of relapse and recurrence in major depression.

Professor Williams was Director of the Oxford Mindfulness Centre until retiring in 2013. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society, the Academy of Medical Sciences, the British Academy and the US Association for Psychological Science. He is author of The Mindful Way Through Depression and Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World.
