Open Mic
22nd August 2018 · 6:30pm - 9:30pm
In person | Virtual event
This is a new idea which we’re hoping will be popular. We’ve had a number of requests from members for an opportunity to come forward and give a talk or present their ideas to the group on their chosen subject. Each speaker will be given 15 minutes, 10 for their talk and 5 for Q&A.
Our four member speakers are:
Derek Lennard – The Wit and Wisdom of Robert Green Ingersoll
Derek is the author of several plays about Ingersoll, illustrating the wit and wisdom of this American 19th century orator who courageously advanced the concept of free-thought.
Sapna Ramnani – Techniques of Dream Analysis
Sapna will share techniques of dream analysis that she has developed as well as explaining how and why dreams are vital for emotional healing and good mental health.
Lindsay Nance – Humour in Schools
Lindsay’s talk shows how humour in school is seen too often as a challenge to authority and too rarely used as a tool for learning.
Peter Logan – Everything Should be Free
The current world economic dictatorship is presented to us in a simple sentence: “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.” Peter has a shorter sentence: “All lunches should be free.”
