UNTITLED EXPERIMENT: Past is Prologue

Music evolves. Musical language has been evolving over time, from simple and harmonic to more complicated and dissonant. Somewhere along the line some of the audience got lost.

Art Collective UNTITLED EXPERIMENT invite performers Katarzyna Kowalik and Ioana Petcu-Colan to put together a programme relating two different musical languages from two different eras. They have chosen and will perform their selected pieces, and will stitch connections between them. UNTITLED EXPERIMENT invite you to join them and follow along in this performance, tracing how the past can point the way to the present and future.

Music evolves, and so should the audience.

Ioana Petcu-Colan is one of the most established and versatile violinists to come from the island of Ireland, travelling internationally to perform, collaborate, teach, adjudicate and record in complement to her role as Leader of the Ulster Orchestra. Alongside her role at the Ulster Orchestra, Ioana is in increasing demand joining a variety of orchestras at home and abroad as Guest Leader, such as the BBC Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Irish National Opera, RTÉ Concert and Hallé Orchestras.

Katarzyna Kowalik is a Polish-British, London-based harpsichordist performing actively as a soloist and with many period ensembles in the UK and across Europe. She has performed in many concert venues in London such as The Barbican Centre, Cadogan Hall, The Cobbe Collection of Early Keyboards at Hatchlands and The Foundling Museum. She is a director of the Royal Baroque ensemble (Continuo Foundation Grantee in 2022), who were commended in the final of the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition and who perform internationally.
