British composer, journalist, and lecturer Robert Hugill returns to Conway Hall to give a free pre-concert talk about the evening’s programme.
A tale of two friendships: From the moment that the young Brahms knocked on the Schumanns’ door and played them his music, the two men had a strong relationship. In the different circumstances of Soviet Russia, Shostakovich and Weinberg also developed a creative friendship.
This free event will be followed by the evening’s main Sunday Concert, featuring Trio Khnopff performing works by these very composers.
