Primrose Piano Quartet & Will Duerden • 6.30pm
2018 BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist Will Duerden joins the Primrose Piano Quartet in a colourful programme, beginning with Mahler’s foreboding early quartet, his only chamber work, which was not published until almost 60 years after his death. The strings then take centre stage for Schoenberg’s trio, before we return to the full complement of musicians for two light-hearted works to complete a most varied programme.
“Inspired music played with complete control, imagination and deep insight, well judged balance and ensemble – a truly satisfying performance.”
