Simon Callaghan and Clíodna Shanahan: Sunday Concerts Fundraising night

As part of the Spring season of Conway Hall Sunday Concerts, which trace their history back to 1887, Sunday 14th April will see a special fundraising performance by Irish pianist Clíodna Shanahan and Director of Music Simon Callaghan, with a programme of piano duet classics. Alongside Schubert, Mozart and Ravel there will be the chance to hear a charming set of miniatures by Cécile Chaminade, one of France’s most renowned woman composers.

These concerts are presented by Conway Hall Ethical Society, an independent charity, with a low admission price and an ethos of “affordable classical music for all”. Funds raised will support the continuation of the concert series, providing a platform for established chamber groups as well as giving a springboard to the next generation of young artists to make their mark on the classical music stage. The charity receives no government funding for its educational work and the 150 events a year that it puts on, including Sunday Concerts, learning courses, art exhibitions, poetry and literature events, and collaborations with like-minded organisations.

Mozart – Sonata in C K521
Ravel – Ma mère l’Oye
Schubert – Fantasy in F minor D940
Chaminade – Pièces romantiques Op.55
Schubert – Marches Caractéristiques D886
