Simon Callaghan & Friends – Beethoven Trios: Part 1

Beethoven | Trio in C minor Op.1/3 (1794-95)
Beethoven | Variations in E flat Op.44 (1792)
Beethoven | Trio in D ‘Ghost’ Op.70/1 (1808)

Ben Gilmore (violin)
Ashok Klouda (cello)
Simon Callaghan (piano)

Director of Music Simon Callaghan is joined by Benjamin Marquise Gilmore (co-concertmaster of the Philharmonia Orchestra) and Ashok Klouda (Director of the Highgate Chamber Music Festival and leading international cellist) in the first of three concerts in 2020, traversing the complete trios of Ludwig van Beethoven. They begin their journey with the early C minor trio, the lesser-known Variations in E flat major and the ‘Ghost’, so nicknamed thanks to its dark, mysterious slow movement.
