Songs Of Hope by Vocal Chords Acapella Choir & Guests

This benefit concert will raise funds for Culture Declares Emergency on Climate Change.

Founded in 2013 by Melanie Harrold, Vocal Chords is a South East London acapella harmony choir open to anyone who can sing. Melanie, former lead singer with the Hank Wangford Band and now with the fabulous Daphne’s Flight, currently taking the folk world by storm, trained as an expressive voice therapist. She travels the world teaching therapists how to use the voice as a therapeutic tool.

Songs for this year’s Conway Hall concert range from the beautiful Georgian ballad ‘Shen Xar Venaxi’, through Sting’s ‘Fragile’ to the haunting ‘Liza Lisidinga Lakho’ from Soweto, taking in spiritual, folk and the occasional pop song along the way, which have been reimagined and re arranged by Melanie. You will hear ‘Cool of The Day’ performed as a 5-part harmony in a new arrangement that’s both soulful and uplifting.

Vocal Chords work on projects highlighting issues they care about. Last year’s concert ‘Songs of Protest’ included an evocative new song ‘No More We Say’ written by Melanie, highlighting the plight of the Grenfell Tower Victims. Now she’s written the powerful Unite/State of Emergency urging we come together, despite our differences, to fight for our planet.

So, come along, have fun and help us raise funds for a great cause. Interval light refreshments available too.

Doors 7pm. Start 7.30pm.

This event is in the Main Hall on the ground floor (Ground floor – accessible). For accessibility info: conwayhall.org.uk/about/visiting-us
