System Change, Not Climate Change – What After COP26?
15th December 2021 · 7:00pm - 9:00pm
In person | Virtual event
Central London Humanists (CLH) are pleased to welcome Chaitanya Kumar, Head of Environment and Green Transition at the New Economics Foundation, who will talk about the promises made at COP26 and the challenges that lie ahead.
If COP26 fired the starting gun, what should a race to global decarbonisation look like and who might the winners and losers be? Will the promises and pledges made at the Glasgow climate summit ensure the prospects of a thriving humanity on a habitable planet?
Chaitanya Kumar works as the head of environment and green transition at the New Economics Foundation – NEF, a charity and think tank working at the intersection of environment and social policy. NEF was one of the pioneers of the Green New Deal and continues to champion that goal for the UK.
He was previously Head of Climate and Energy Policy at Green Alliance in the UK and before that was based in New Delhi as South Asia campaigns leader for 350.org. He has an MSc in energy policy from the Science Policy Research Unit at Sussex University.
For more than three decades, the NEF’s mission has been to transform the economy so it works for people and the planet. They work with people igniting change from below and combine this with rigorous research to fight for change at the top. NEF aims to create a new economy that by 2040 works for people and within environmental limits.
