Join us at our event on Ethics & Politics where we will be discussing “The Ethics of Equality” and will be held in collaboration with the GlobalNet21 and chaired by Francis Sealey.

Christopher Snowdon – Head of Lifestyle Economics at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA.). He is the author of The Art of Suppression, The Spirit Level Delusion and Velvet Glove; Iron Fist.

His work focuses on pleasure, prohibition and dodgy statistics. He has authored a number of publications including Sock Puppets, Euro Puppets, The Proof of the Pudding, The Crack Cocaine of Gambling and Free Market Solutions in Health.

Engelbert Stockhammer – Director of Research at the Economics, Politics & History Faculty of Kingston University and also presently a research associate at the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst) and member of the coordination committee of the Research Network Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Policy.

His research areas include macroeconomics, applied econometrics, financial systems and heterodox economics. He has worked extensively on the determinants of European unemployment, the demand effects of changes in income distribution and the macroeconomics effects of financialisation. He is a firm believer in equality and its positive impact both socially and economically.

This debate took on new energy when Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett published their book “The Spirit Level” that argued that equality was good for everyone and led to a healthier and happier society.
