Bloomsbury Festival: Words from Elsewhere: Fanzine Workshop

Publish yourself. Fanzines, or zines, have long been a way of expressing thoughts and experiences from the margins and grassroots – a way of publishing what no one else will publish, and creating art and literature for voiceless communities. Be inspired by Conway Hall’s archive of DIY pamphlets, going back over 200 years of art and activism, and join Ioana Simion’s workshop to get your own fanzine started. The session will be packed with activities designed to inspire and kindle meaningful conversations and creative outcomes. There’s power in our stories, so let’s get them out there. You don’t need any experience, and all materials will be provided.

Ioana is an arts facilitator based in Forest Gate, passionate about bringing communities together to play and reimagine the act of making. She started Artizine UK in 2019 as a platform aiming to heal and restore everyone’s relationship with creativity via zines and zine-making.

This event is part of Bloomsbury Festival.
