Join banner-making expert Alice Gabb for a sewing workshop where you will help her create a banner that will be marched through Pride in London by LGBT Humanists! Our banner will be inspired by symbols and slogans from LGBT Humanists’ history.
Alice will start the session by introducing you to the history of activist banners. There will then be some time for you to explore archival sources and contribute to Alice’s design ideas. In the second half of the session, Alice will teach you hand-sewing techniques and you will work together to sew our bespoke banner.
This event is organised as part of the LGBT strand of the National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported project ‘Humanist Heritage: Doers, Dreamers, Place Makers’, coordinated by Humanists UK in partnership with Conway Hall.
Age Recommendation: All ages. Under 16s may need to be accompanied by an adult.

Access Information
Due to the age and Grade Il listing of the building, there is no lift access to rooms above the ground floor.
All the ground-floor rooms are fully accessible by wheelchair. Main Hall (street access, step-free), Brockway Room (street access, step-free), Bertrand Russell Room (street access, shallow ramp), Hive Cafe (street access, step-free), There is also an accessible toilet on the ground floor opposite the Brockway Room.
